Description

ANNUNCIATION (Giclee, 2017)

Twilight, when sun fades and night swells.
That’s the spirit-moment
when we close our day’s work
and without much thought, begin to engage
the marriage of day and night.

It is a moment when angels call
and invite us over the brink
of the possible to the impossible.
Standing at that threshold,
not in, not out…
we hear the call and catch a flash
of precious insight.

It is yesterday. It is tomorrow.
And right now, the spirit angels
have slid through our reality
and let us know that our simple, everyday tasks
are pregnant with the eternal.
Angels do that.

The ordinary is shot through and shining.
The ordinary is extraordinary.

THE ANNUNCIATION- Giclee Details
The Sacred comes through ordinary life. The villagers are doing their evening work, which has no grandeur nor representation of power over others: a child calls his father in from work, friends meet at a doorway, a young man cares for an elderly parent, a wood cutter delivers his day’s work, and a woman prepares an evening meal. Mary as a young woman sweeping her stoop is the first to be blessed by the angels. Angels continue to visit all of us in our everyday lives, to ask us to allow God to be in our lives and to honor God’s presence in the creation around us.You may see details from THE ANNUNCIATION, 2017 Giclee, below:

THE ANNUNCIATION- Image History
The idea of how to portray THE ANNUCIATION came from many early drawings and sketches, as well as other artworks. The piece is based on a new painting of the same name, which was completed over seven months, from September, 2016 until April, 2017. It is a reimagining of an early water media painting from 1992 with additional embellishments and intense colors. Many sketches and studies went into the art, and an additional two months of adjustments were added digitally to the final giclee edition. You may see below for images depicting a brief history on the creation of THE ANNUNCIATION, 2017.
