Description

The artwork at the center of this poster is from an untitled serigraph I made in 1971. It was part of a series I did of runners. I was learning and experimenting with different colors and techniques. I only made a few of these prints, but I wanted to bring it back to share it with people.

The text I have incorporated into the artwork comes from the words of Pope Francis, Bob Dylan, and Greta Thunberg, with messages about working together and moving forward.

I made many changes from the original design. I used alphabets I carved in Sr. Mary Corita’s class at Immaculate Heart College in 1968, and also my calligraphy.

“I love the poster–love it!  The quote from Bob Dylan is perfect.  Using racers is visually symbolic because HURRY is truly needed to create change.  Using the quote from Pope Francis helps up to realize that THINGS CAN CHANGE if we work together.  It’s a needed message of hope.  I also appreciate Greta Tunburg’s warning.  I think the poster is perfect.”
